Bike and Density

From the bus ride to downtown, things shift quickly on my TrIP2 excursion. With a smartphone and a Juice Bike Share membership I’m able to find a bike station near the Lynx Central Station and make my way. The decision to come to Lake Eola has two elements. First, the bike paths that I had easy access to made the ride safer. When you are on the bike you become aware of your vulnerability much like the bus makes you aware of class distinction. Second, the images of Orlando that are created for wider consumption rely on the Fountain at Lake Eola. Thus a natural space to pursue a reflection.

Near Downtown

Real estate speak “near downtown” comes back to me waiting for the LYNX bus. When I moved into Audubon Park, my real estate agent called it near downtown and I laughed. The nature of near was defined by car versus walking. Waiting on the bus, I realize it is near in mass transit terms. A mere 30ish mins versus 70 mins walking.

TrIP 2

I participated in the Transit Interpretation Project second Orlando event. TrIP asks participants to ride public transit and use it as a springboard to discuss broader issues.
